Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates it. That provider processes the terms and supplies its own results. We do not keep a separate log of those names or places.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive these technical details:
- Your device's internet protocol address
- The operating system and kind of device used
- Browser name and version
- Viewed pages, visit length, and page-view times
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved by a browser. They help show which pages receive traffic and how visitors move through the site. Analytics vendors combine that activity into performance reports. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, securing, and improving site performance
- Routing a query to the chosen outside search provider
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Finding faults and correcting technical problems
- Supporting relevant advertising
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Washoe County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official routes such as the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, local District Court, and Reno Police Records, plus the Nevada Department of Public Safety Records Bureau and Nevada Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party dossiers or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search tools. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices apply to information entered there. Review the operator's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Nevada agencies, legal-aid resources, and outside tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Outside search operators receiving a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and page performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A government body when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards protect the information we handle. No online system can guarantee perfect security, so a breach can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A verified request concerning a minor's submitted data will be addressed promptly.
Your Data Rights
The Nevada Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, and Nevada's criminal-history dissemination rules in NRS Chapter 179A govern official government records rather than this private site's visitor data. Other privacy law may grant rights based on where you live. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal data held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion when the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
